IT Institute is an ITU unit that performs education and research in graduation level that directed to the information technology applications in all aspects of human development.

IT Institute, should build a interdisciplinary platform which shall promote the education and research on entire applications of IT technologies. In that respect, it presents, high quality services that allows the development of creative application in local, national and global scales, continuously updating hardware and software resources and an intellectual environment.

The Difficulties Experienced

Under ITU IT Institute, the scope of the services given is expanded and the diversity is increased for with the increase in the number of user for better service. The new hardware infrastructure needs was born with this expansion. It is tried to be overcome this situation by grouping the service methods, increasing the number of servers, updating the server’s contents, in different time period of existing hardware infrastructure.

This heterogeneous structure that developed by the time, is far from the flexibility and has some handicaps for performing the revisions that required for new necessities.

However, it has been observed that the utilization rate of some servers is decreased, or it is reached to top level, hence, it is understood that the resources are used inefficiently.

Besides that, it is most likely that the services given to the users, can face an instant interruption at anytime on the infrastructure that running the services since it does not have back-up feature.

Solution

Virtualization Technology is feasible for efficiency, flexibility and accessibility needs which is tha aim of institute. The solution designed, implemented and the trainings given entirely by CompecTA engineers then handed over to the institute.
